Come Together, Create, and Celebrate HRH The Queen!

Thanks to Carmen at Dolphin Shopping Centre for saving a wind cancelled event, The Power House popped-up in Gather Hub for two days over the Jubilee weekend, ahead of our Poole Britannia! Platinum Jubilee Exhibition and Celebration Day at Lighthouse, Poole at the end of June.

On Friday 3rd June, Creative Clay offered the children and adults an opportunity to make a ceramic Queen or parade participant, and with Jubilee Cookie decorating and activity sheets there was plenty to do, and lots of connections and friends made. Including Irene from Wallisdown, who popped into Poole to see if there were any Jubilee celebrations. Our volunteer’s daughter loves chatting to people and she met Irene as she was giving out flyers to members of the public.

Alix loved connecting with Irene who dearly loves the Queen, and told us how she has letters from the Queen and other memorabilia. Irene is lending us the items for our exhibition.

On Saturday, Power House’s Co-Founder Rachel Huggett offered lino cut print making. Lots of beautiful designs to show the Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Poole when they joined in our celebrations. And to close our pop-up, local Choir Director Ali Sharpe led Canford Cliffs Community Choir and members of the community in a Jubilee Singalong - including the second performance the Jubilee Song she wrote and composed.

Poole Britannia! Platinum Jubilee Exhibition opens 25 June with a Celebration Day …

Check out our Gallery for all the photos from our Platinum Jubilee celebration - and all thanks to Arts Council England through Dorset Community Foundation and BCP Council for funding these activities and the Jubilee Song to the community of Poole can come together, create, and celebrate our beautiful Queen’s glorious 70 year reign.
