Sparks & Generation Sessions
We run regular events for people who care about Poole to meet up, socialise, spark conversations and generate ideas around the themes of The Power House and the community's needs for Poole. They take place in various events in Poole and Hamworthy at 7.00 pm on the third Wednesday of each month. Sparks Sessions are casual meet ups in various pubs across Poole and Hamworthy. Generation Sessions are a networking and workshop event, focused on a Power House theme or community need. Sparks and Generation Sessions alternate on a monthly basis.
Membership
The Power House is a charity run by its members. You can join us for only £5 a year. The membership year starts on 1st April. If you join in January, February or March, your payment includes the following membership year. Membership entitles you to vote in the elections for The Power House’s Board of Directors, provided you have fulfilled the volunteering requirement (10 hours of volunteering for The Power House in the previous year). At some point, we intend to issue membership cards and negotiate discounts with local businesses.
Volunteer
We will need paid employees to run The Power House building, but The Power House’s current activities and the work towards delivering that building depend on the contribution of time by volunteers. We are a friendly and motivated team, and match people to roles that they will find enjoyable and rewarding. Our Themes page shows the main areas in which roles are available. If would like to find out more about volunteering, please contact us. Volunteers will need a valid DBS , or we can complete a DBS check on your behalf.
