The Power House Pilot Youth Project Programme
After 3 years of community consultation and building on existing community knowledge, The Power House is proud to have launched it’s Youth Project with a Pilot Programme which started earlier this year.
Thanks to National Lottery and HM Government COVID-19 Support funding, we are thrilled with the appointment of Beth Pink as The Power House Youth Project Coordinator in a term-term appointment as we build this project from the ground up. Young People asked for safe spaces, and to have a voice in shaping activities and provision. Beth brings a fresh perspective, great ideas, and a passion for the more for young people, as well as experience, all topped with lots of life and energy!
Thanks to Carter Community School and their support, Beth launched after school sessions as young people started back to school after 3 months of lockdown. A big thank you to Hamworthy Liberal Club’s Manager Sally for enabling our sessions. You always make us so welcome.
And then sessions in school connecting with students to have conversations about their local community - and a mock Social Enterprise Funding Application task. Well done guys.
Israel Douglas was also taken on as a Sessional Worker and then led Easter Holiday Sports Sessions.
All this work was extended thanks to Faithworks Wessex’s Youth Conversation CIL Funding and a donation from the community. And now we are thrilled to say that we have secured £2021 from Clubs In Crisis thanks to Dorset Community Foundation for Summer Holiday Sports Sessions. With £200 on it’s way from Hamworthy Co-Op for refreshments the Youth Project team will be announcing details of a Summer Holiday Programme in due course.
Well done team!
