Poole Celebrating the Old, Inspiring the New Exhibition and Events Programme

It’s here! Two years since The Power House team met with Lighthouse’s CEO Elspeth McBain resulting in her offer to use their Gallery for an exhibition, and after a postponed date due to an unexpected pandemic, The Power House are excited to invite you to our first ever arts event: an exhibition Celebrating the Old, Inspiring the New with an Events Programme.

It certainly feels like a celebration of 4 years of foundational work and relative freedom after a 3 month long Lockdown 3 - and we are humbly proud of what we have achieved. Our appointed Curator CoFounder Maureen La Frenais has done a wonderful job to piece together a beautifully curated exhibition of 44 artists and poets pieces. Thanks to CoCreate Community Artists, a piece created with 10 community members “Celebrating Hamworthy” and inspired by Hamworthy’s Carter’s Tiles is included

With a few events under our belts including 3 Private Viewings to enable the 57 artists - yes, 57! - to attend in Covid restricted conditions, there are still some events you can join us with.

6th July - Inspiring Shores: Poetry Evening Part 2 including COIN Exhibition Poets in Lighthouse’s Amphitheatre

13th July - Generation Session: Inspiring the New, our first in person Generation Session workshop in 18 months.

20th July - Stories of Poole Open Mic: Do you have a fond memory or story of Poole. The Power House and community member Mandie would love to hear and record your stories so we can create an audio loop for a future exhibition. In Lighthouse’s Sherling Studio.

A very big thank you to Arts Council England and BCP Council Events for the project funding, and for National Lottery Community Fund for funding our Project Manager’s position - she has had an amazing adventure and added another string to her bow … as well as the opportunity to play her violin at a stunning Inspiring Shores: Music Night
