Autumn Celebration October 2023

On Saturday 21st October, rain didn’t stop play as we held our first celebration of harvest and the Patch progress. Complete with Transition Town Poole’s apple press. Lush’s Green Hub donated two 10l water containers that had been delivered perfectly timed the day before. So our neighbour Tom was able to connect one to his IBC in his garden. Tim from Hamworthy Scouts and HomeWorx with his family used the time to prepare the ground for our water harvesting shelter installation.

Michael French who has been part of our journey since he presented at our 2019 “Urban Gardens” Generation Session joined us to share the moment, give insights, and help finish filling the last of our raised beds. Hamworthy’s John and Tim’s two sons helped Michael … we were not expecting to get them finished so we are overjoyed! A perfect end to this year’s progress.

A feast was shared thanks to Patch Garden Lead Laura and Alix who cooked up some delicious food from our harvest. Stuffed Patty Pans with rice, Patch carrots, onions, garlic, and beans, Courgette soup, and chutney. And we all had some freshly pressed apple juice.

Asda Poole’s Community Champion Vikki joined us to celebrate our year and their funding for our tool shed, and shelter on it’s way. Cllrs Andy Hadley and Millie Earl (Deputy Leader of BCP Council) also joined us to share this special time.
