Youth Space ... Renewed
In February, we made the disappointing decision to stop Youth Space due to ongoing anti-social behaviour by a few young people. They didn’t just disrupt our session, but also caused damage to St Michael’s Church and Little Angel’s Pre-School equipment. Nothing too major, but still a violation and completely unacceptable.
Alix, Aimée, and Laura worked hard engaging with Dorset Police, BCP Council’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team, Cornerstone Academy, and Lytchett Minster School. A stricter Membership system has been put in place, with schools working with us to verify young people’s ages and school attendance. Our procedures during the session have been reworked, and a minimum of four volunteers will be needed each session, particularly for registration.
We’re so thankful to Rev Tess and all at St Michael’s Church for giving us another chance. We opened the doors last Friday, and we have four sessions before Half Term to see if we can continue. Two sessions under our belt, looking good so far. We had a visit from the local PCSOs this week. That made a certain someone very happy!
Well done Youth Project Team for pushing through, overcoming, and finding the solution. Here’s hoping it’s enough.
