Community Food Growing at Cornerstone Academy coming soon ...

Together with St Michael’s Green Team and Friends of Hamworthy Park (FoHP), The Power House has been exploring various community growing spaces. St Michael’s Bluebell Community Woodland and Gardens is developing nicely. A sensory flower garden will be set up at the front of the church. We supported FoHP to hold a community event at Tucker’s Field, to consult the local residents on what they wanted for this green space. Food growing isn’t suitable in either of these spaces, so following FoHP Dave’s suggestion, Alix approached Cornerstone Academy.

Through our ongoing and growing relationship with Cornerstone Academy, the opportunity arose to ask their Principal Ms Davidson if there is some space on their land they could let us use for a Community Garden. And yes there is! Their old outdoor swimming pool … Watch this space for project progress as we plan and set up. We’re going to start growing in Cornerstone’s existing Nurture Garden. Once we’re further along the journey, we’ll be putting a shout out for more community members to get involved.
