Sparks Session - Inspirational Stories #1

We had a very inspiring and special Sparks Session at S Bomb yesterday evening. David Whiddon kindly kick started our Inspirational Stories by sharing and reflecting on his story of rowing across the Atlantic Ocean from Barbados to Morocco with his rowing partner 10 years ago.

There were so many takeaways from his talk, from being at the mercy of the elements before they could even set off on their adventure to completing such a difficult journey. David highlighted the importance of community and taking small steps to achieving goals.

It was a very chilly November evening and so we would like to thank all the lovely people that showed up for the event. It was wonderful to see that there were so many new faces to The Power House, which was made even more special when one friend of David’s drove all the way from Stoke on Trent to hear his talk and surprise him, and Dave ‘Dinger’ Bell turned up to see David after Dinger’s recent and epic New York to UK row (ny2uksolorow.co.uk).

We are certainly looking forward to our next Inspirational Stories event.

Once again a special evening was had, in one of our favourite places - SBomb Vintage Workshop. Thank you Kelly for organising this, and thank you to Katie Morriss for hosting us with your toastie woodburner .

And we certainly found out why the Between the Bridges land needs raising up above flood levels as the tide came in!

Do you have a life story or adventure, whether big or small that you would like to share to inspire others to step out and do things outside their comfort zone? If so, please email: projects@thepowerhousepoole.org
