Co-op Local Community Fund Charity

We are hugely grateful to be one of the chosen charities for the Co-op Local Community Fund. Today, The Power House Poole popped down to Hamworthy Co-op to chat to customers about our local cause, how to support us and all about sustainability.

Did you also know that the Hamworthy Co-op has now installed special recycling bins for any plastic that can be scrunched up (soft plastics), many of which are not accepted in the blue bins at home. So, please do start collecting all of your excess soft plastic wrappers from crisp packets, baby wipe packaging to fruit and vegetable wrapping, and bring it down to the entrance of the Co-op to be recycled.

This initiative really is a great idea. Alix is delighted that by asking a friend to just save plastic wrappers for one week while on holiday so she could put them in the Co-Op bins, her friend said it opened her eyes. Together with her normal plastic recycling, she dramatically reduced the waste her family of four made, and put only two bin bags into her black bin.

Can you save all your scrunchy and soft plastic wrappers for one week and put it into Hamworthy or Ashley Road (or Christchurch) Co-Op bins and see the difference it makes ... ? And maybe make a permanent lifestyle change that will do your huge bit in saving our planet?
