Poole Britannia! Platinum jubilee exhibition

To celebrate Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, we held a month long Poole Britannia Exhibition hosted by Lighthouse, Poole (which was originally opened by the Queen in 1979 who received a specially commissioned piece of Poole Pottery in commemoration).

We are very grateful to The Lighthouse Poole for hosting our Poole Britannia! Exhibition and Celebration Day.

The Power House were delighted to produce this month-long exhibition, which included:

Jubilee Mosaic Murals by David Bowers and Hamworthy Park Junior and Twin Sails Infants Schools: Hamworthy Primary School invited David to create 7 Mosaic Wall Murals – celebrating each decade of the Queen’s reign to be installed at the school for the whole school community and visitors to enjoy and remember for many years to come.

Mosaic Portrait of the Queen by Amanda Waite and GCSE Art Students in collaboration with Claire Austin and Maureen La Frenais: Amanda’s work of capturing young people’s identity combined with the cyanotype technique, working with 20 GCSE Art Students from Cornerstone Academy, Lytchett Minster School, and other schools, Amanda is creating a collaborative Mosaic Portrait of the Queen using the students’ pieces of abstract art created in workshops she leads.

Platinum Jubilee Globes by The Clay Shack working with Longfleet Combined School: Erica Hale and Dawn Thomas have worked with The Clayshack After-School Club children aged 7-10 to create a series of ceramic globes commemorating Her Majesty, that are simply delightful and detailed.

Rob Hughes “Then and Now” painting - a portrait of the Queen.
