Cornerstone Patch’s New Shelter

Thanks to BH Coastal Lottery brilliantly agreeing to allow us to repurpose an underspend of our 2023 small grant to start Cornerstone Patch set up including the installation of the nine raised beds, our water harvesting gazebo funded by Asda Foundation thanks to the Asda Poole Community Champion Vikki Ekema now has sides and windows.

Along with gravel for the paths in the “Edible Eden”, the grant underspend was used to purchase timber and fixings, with Poole Men’s Shed coming to the Patch on 27th September with donated UPVC windows, volunteering their time to install sides with window frames to hold the windows. Staying until the early evening, it was a beautiful surprise to turn up to the next day’s Saturday Social and see it fully complete.

This was perfectly timed with volunteer Dave completing the upcycling of St Michael’s pew, which is now a beautiful corner seat in the shelter.
