Cornerstone Patch Autumn Feast
Our second harvest and feast on 19th October came with an interesting vegetable … a tromboncino … a cross between a courgette and a butternut squash, it can be harvested and eaten when green being more courgette like, or left to ripen more to become more like a butternut squash. Inspired by last year’s Herby Mashed Potato squash, Alix made some Herby Tromboncino slices topped with mozarella.
We were joined by our Asda Poole Community Champion who has volunteered with us at the Patch over the years. Rob Kingman of Poole Men’s Shed came to celebrate the wonderful shelter they created and plan our Edible Eden trellises to extend our growing capacity.
John Hanson of Grounded Community and The Parks Foundation visited the Patch and to continue our ongoing conversation around the potential to form a collaboration.
Celebrating 2024 and looking ahead to 2025 and all that will bring. First stop … let’s get the rest of Phase 2 of Cornerstone Patch installation complete … the “Edible Eden” accessible ramp and paths and safety fencing and landscaping so we can open up the Patch to the older and less able members of the community.
