The Power House partners with Poole Harbour Canoe Club

Thanks to Dorset Community Foundation’s Clubs In Crisis funding, unspent funding for our Summer Sports Sessions was repurposed with permission to run a series of Kayaking sessions for Young People, with Poole Harbour Canoe Club’s Martin Jones and team. Alix and Power House volunteers drove 10 young people to Ferndown Sports Centre, where Poole Harbour Canoe Club (PHCC) hold Winter sessions.

As well as having a great time, friendships were growing and even Power House volunteers had a go. Martin, Ian, Lyn, and young leaders Lucas and Ethan gave expert instruction in a safe environment with plenty of fun and laughter (and capsizes!).

The young people loved the sessions, and some went on to join PHCC’s Junior session at Lake Beach in the Spring and Summer.
