Awards For All £10,000 for our Youth Project!
Starting up our Youth Project sessions in a global pandemic has been interesting, and most definitely an organic process. Thanks to Dorset Community Foundation and National Lottery+HM Government Coronavirus Support Funding, and Youth Conversation CIL funding through Faithworks Wessex, we were able to do our bit to reach out to young people struggling with social isolation and increased anxiety, by employing a Youth Project Coordinator. Beth Pink worked with Alix to set up the first of our sessions, and supported Sports Coach Israel to run Easter and Summer Sports sessions, thanks to Dorset Community Foundation’s Clubs In Crisis funding. With £1000 donation and another from local business, Da Vinci’s Restaurant, we were able to employ Aimée as our new Youth Space Leader as Beth moved on to a role more aligned with her passion to support young people with higher needs.
We have had over 30 young people accessing our sessions, with a regular core group growing.
This all gave a fantastic foundational pilot project to apply to Awards For All to continue our Youth Space and grow our Youth Project further to meet the needs of Hamworthy’s young people.
Thank you so much to the National Lottery Community Fund for your £10,000 award to enable us to continue paying Aimée and to pay for Administrator to ensure our Young People get the activities and support they need.
